Terry Fox

The Terry Fox Run is a run around the world every year to raise money for cancer research. It is a non-competitive run, just people joining to raise money for cancer research.

His story
Terry Fox had a car crash and a year later he had osteosarcoma (a type of bone cancer) and had his right leg amputated. Three years after losing his leg, he decided to run from coast to coast in order to raise fund for cancer research and hence started the "Marathon Of Hope". This is the letter he sent to the Canadian Cancer Society to request for some fund for his run

"My name is Terry Fox. I am 21 years old, and I am an amputee. I lost my right leg two-and-a-half years ago due to cancer. The night before my amputation, my former basketball coach brought me a magazine with an article on an amputee who ran in the New York Marathon. It was then when I decided to meet this new challenge head on and not only overcome my disability, but conquer it in such a way that I could never look back and say it disabled me. But I soon realized that would only be half of my quest, for as I went through the sixteen months of the physically and emotionally draining ordeal of chemotheraphy, I was rudely awakened by the feelings that surrounded and coursed through the cancer clinic. There were the faces with the brave smiles, and the ones who had given up smiling. There were the feelings of hopeful denial, and the feelings of despair. My quest would not be a selfish one. I could not leave knowing these faces and feelings would still exist, even though I would be set free from mine. Somewhere the hurting must stop...and I was determined to take myself to the limit for this cause.

I feel now is the time to make good my promise. I have been training for eight months, running on an artificial leg. Starting with half a mile, I have now worked up to thirteen-and-a-half a day, adding half a mile weekly. By April next year [1980], I will be ready to achieve something that for me was once only a distant dream reserved for the world of miracles; to run across Canada to raise money for the fight against cancer. The running I can do, even if I have to crawl every last mile. But there are some barriers I cannot overcome alone. We need your help. The people in cancer clinics all over the world need people who believe in miracles. I am not a dreamer and I'm not saying that this will initiate any kind of definitive answer or cure to cancer, but I believe in miracles. I have to."

Sadly his cancer had metastasised (spread) to his lungs and he had left ventricular hypertrophy (left heart enlarged) hence after running for 143 days, he had to stop on 1st Sept 1980 yet his run reached out to the heart of his people and Terry Fox's dream of getting one dollar from every single Canadian for cancer research had been realized. After battling with the complications of his cancer, he passed away 1 year after his great run.

Touching isn't it?? I joined this run in 2004 and I am running again this Sunday, 1st Nov. Care to join??

HOLA!!!

Hey people (if there's still people reading this lol), it has been a long time since I had the mood to blog.

So, how am I?? Well, I have been busy watching movies and playing The Sims 2. Thanks to my beloved cousin for having movies in his external and thanks to Jon for giving me the game =)
[Jon, my sims died. Too short la their life span!!!]

So, renal system is starting next week and reproductive system is ending this week. Studies so far OK lar but somehow I still can't find that uumph and momentum I had last time. I need OK!!!!

Yesterday, I had my antenatal clinic rotation. Instead of going to MANTIN clinic, the van driver brought us to BANTING. Sounds similar hence the confusion. It took us 3 hours to reach Mantin instead of 40 minutes and when he found out that he was sending us to the wrong place, he sped and keep overtaking cars/buses/vans/trucks like as if we bought billion dollars worth of insurance. The ride was nerve wrecking and I sat behind the driver so I had a clear view of what's happening. I nearly died but still managed to catch 40 winks (I just can't help sleeping in a moving vehicle!!!)

We were supposed to reach at 8.30am but we reached at 10.30am so we missed what was planned for us in the morning such as the house visiting programme where we follow the nurse to the mothers (new or would-be) and check on them. Thankfully we managed to catch the nurse before the last house and met this new mother. (KL don't have such programme which I think should be implemented since the mothers can save time from waiting to see the doctor and can be examined in a place they are comfortable in.)

I read her details and found out that she's the same age as me!!!! I am not supposed to feel surprised since I have friends of my age who are mothers since ages ago but some how having her standing in front of me makes a huge impact. The husband looked terrible but in their wedding picture he looked fantastic!! Photoshop really saves the day LOL! We were shown how to check for neonatal jaundice and how to clean the umbilicus. Next we checked on the mother's uterus and asked some questions.

Everything was done by 11ish and Sister Joan came and briefed us and off we went back to IMU and I was HUNGRY!!!!!!! Met Jing and had lunch, went for PBL, lectures, gave Jon some movies that he wanted and had dinner twice. Once with parents and once with cousin and sister. Wanted to study a bit but end up lying on the bed with the notes covering my face dozing away.
What a day!!!

I am really thankful to have my cousin with us because I can really feel the brotherly love that I should be feeling and of course for the movies he has and the printer he brought along. He shares his deepest secrets with me and NOT vice verse which drives him nuts LOL!! Appreciate what he's doing and glad that I have a brotherly cousin =)

I'll be having my CSU session tomorrow and it'll gonna be breast examination. Gals who want to check for lumps in the breast please please do come and let me practice hehe. Guys are welcome too!!! =P

********************************************************************

Just a few days back, I was reflecting on my character/ personality/ thoughts/ friends/ family/ relationships etc... and I realised quite a few things.
Words like used, lack, despair, responsibilities, commitments etc... really are a part and parcel of MY life and I got to accept it since I can't do anything with it. Sad right? Well, what to do??
LIFE MUST still GO ON =)
Thanks for reading and still keeping track with my baboonic blab. Really appreciate it
Extra gigantic hugs for you =)

Randomness

I went for my MUET examination together with my sister (my MUET examination was in my high school) and I didn't know where the exam was held hence my sister offered to bring me around to look but I went ahead and looked for it and found it.

So after settling down and talked to the teacher in charge, my sister and a few of her friends found me. Honestly I totally forgot about her =P

Went home and she told me
"Why you didn't wait for me?"
"My friends said you very pretty."
"Haha, I can't believe it!! I feel I am prettier than you lor!!"

She said those words to my face!!!
I never knew that my sister was that vain!!!!
OMG!!!

***********************************************************************

Recently I can't see clearly hence I finally asked my mother to bring me to change my specs. I found out the last time I changed it was in 2004, 5 years ago!!! HAHAHAHAHA
XD

stressors

1. MUET exam on Tuesday
- no preparation
- no guidance
- no clue on how to sit for the speaking test

2. CSU at 8am
- MUET Exam at 11am
- Need more than 1hour to travel back to Kepong from uni
- Cannot miss because having Abdomen (Obstetric) examination, vaginal examination and Pap Smear session
- Wrote into Dean for a change of CSU session to Monday
- Was allowed to miss CSU but not allowed to replace
- Don't dare to attend the Monday's session without permission
- But can't afford to miss =(

3. PBL at 2pm
- Apparently need to wait during MUET exam because it follows grouping
- I have no idea which group I am in
- I have juniors who waited for 2 hours
- If I wait for 2 hours, I will not make it for PBL
- Cannot miss PBL also because attendance taken
- Miss PBL twice consecutively I would be barred from exam
- This PBL is a combined PBL where we discuss week 1's PBL2 and followed by week2's PBL1
- If I miss means I'll miss 2 PBLs consecutively =(

ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gifts & Friends =)

Well, I would like to dedicate this post to all my friends who took the effort to give me something. It may be small but it surely took a large space in my heart =)

Thank you all for everything.

I am a very sentimental type of person hence your gifts would be cherish as if it cost millions of dollars. Honestly, it is worth more than that, they're priceless.

When I say gifts, I refer to all the friendships I have. I thank you all for being my friend, for being that someone whom I can randomly talk and sms to, for being a part of my life and making it so colourful!!! I really am thankful.

I would like to take this opportunity to apologise if I ever say things that hurt you or offended you. I think I didn't realise what I did was bad because at times I just blurt things out without giving it a second thought. It has been my bad habit =P

Extra pictures and old pictures =)

Curious?? Well, I opened it and OMG!!!!!
My First short White Dress!!!
A closer look (Actually Thamarai and Tan Yik Jing has yet to see it in real lol)
The back.

This is a dress and for those who know me, I don't really wear dress/skirt or move around gracefully like what a ballerina should be hence dress/skirt is a NO NO BUT there's always a 1st time and I was persuading myself to get something decent for parties for a looong time. I guess this is the stepping stone to get more lady-like clothes. BUT this dress is so short!! It's till mid thigh, I'll feel so naked >.<

Anaemic jene

Ya, I am anaemic =(

I wanted to donate blood on last Tuesday but I was told that I have low Hb after that fellow pricked my fingers TWICE!!! He pricked twice because my blood clotted (I'm sure you can figure how slow he did the tests).

The moment he told me "Sorry, you low Hb" I was devastated. I WAS SO SAD =(

This is not my first time donating blood, so why suddenly low Hb?? Because I skipped meals?? So unlikely. I think because that fellow didn't like me =(

Grr...I want to donate my blood!! My donating-blood-every-6-months marathon is ruin =(
Sob....

Btw, I got a short white dress from Yik Jing, Thamarai and Nirmal. The length is til mid thigh, so short but I like it (Don't think I'll dare to wear it though). Thank a lot gals!!

Additional guy in the house + pics2

Ya, before I talk about that additional guy in the house, let me apologise for not updating my blog and praise this good restaurant once again.

Yesterday was my mother's birthday, so after her long meetings at her office, I met her at the LRT station (Wheee for skipping the change-train-to-KTM part!!!) and off we went and pick my sister up for my mother's birthday dinner. Our initial plan was to let my brother use the car so that he can come pick my mother at the office and me at the LRT station then off we go for buffet dinner at some hotel which I forgot the name but my mother usually works late so plan cancelled and my brother went for his futsal too.

So, we were deciding either to go D'Fortune for Western, Rakuzen at Desa Park City for Japanese or another option. I was actually keen in going to Rakuzen than to D'Fortune BUT mother asked, if we want to go for Korean BBQ so you guessed right, off we went to Daorae again =)

This time, we ordered a beef and a pork for BBQ and a soup set which comes with rice. I went to wash my hands and came back with FREE soup and FREE steamed egg served on my table (Whee!! FREE FOOD!!!). Next, we really enjoyed wrapping the juicy meat in the lettuce and trying to stuck the whole thing into our mouth. The soup and rice set was OK but next time I'm sure to try the hot and spicy soup. The side dishes was splendid too!!!

The waiter who served us was from Nepal so my mother was telling him about where she went when she was at Nepal and got a few other Nepalese waiter's attention and they keep coming to talk to my mother (with extra good services). Each time he (the original Nepalese who is our waiter) approached our table to serve or to change (refill) the side dishes, he'll say "thank you". It was really felt like we were being really served well. A++ for their service.

After almost finishing our food, another FREE pancake complement from the chef arrived (we were stuffed but FREE FOOD!!!) and FREE fruit and FREE drink!!! I was so full, so happy and so satisfied. This is the 1st time I'm going to the same restaurant 3 times and yet feeling so happy with the service and food there =) Kudos to Daorae!!!

**********************************************************************

So who's this additional guy?? Well, it's none other than my cousin brother. He's staying at our place for the next 3 months because of his industrial training and for the first time I don't look forward to it. Instead, I kinda feel that his presence is kinda a nuisance.
I got to make sure Spritz won't attack him because he's scared of Spritz aka dogs.
I got to make sure that he make sure Spritz won't escape when he pushes his bike out.
I got to make sure Spritz wont go near his bike when he comes home because the exos would be hot.
I got to wash, hang and fold extra clothes.
I can't walk half naked at home.
He'll be hogging the computer at home.

But oh well, other than that it's OK.

************************************************************************

For the whole Raya week, I have been hooked on onemanga reading mangas. Seriously addicted that I can sit on the computer chair and read for more than 12 hours straight down!! And on Monday (when Uni started) I was actually tempted to start reading again but my bro shoo=ed me away. Thank god. I've read almost 50 different stories and each stories contain more than 10 chapters and each chapters have at least 30 pages. I am so dead!!!!! Got to start studying and catch up!! =(

*************************************************************************

Just to show off some of my present =P

My birthday pics

Well, everyone be happy for me ok!!

My desktop is finally working!! Wheee!!!!

So my birthday cake pictures and the drama that goes along with it is here =)
***************************************************

The cake is from Celicakes. I remember getting my 1st chocolate banana cake here and it was the most delicious chocolate banana cake that I have ever tasted that till today I still can't find another that taste as good as that time.

Tah dah!!!!! The strawberries are as big as half of my handphone ok. I measured you see =P
This is my 1st ice cream cake and mind you, Haagen Dazs Ice cream wei and it's almond mocha fudge flavour. The sponge cake is less than 1cm and it's full with ice cream and with bits of fudge makes the cake Mmmmm!!! OOoo lah lah~~~

Yup, finally 21. Happy birthday!!! May I be smarter than the usual dumb me =)

Took this picture before dad went off to meet his friends.

Mother putting the candles for me.
I was "Yer, don't need candles la, later the cake melt!!"
Mother was "Haiyoh, for a while only OK!!"

After blowing the candles, bro said "Eh, pose again pose again!!! I shook the camera just now." So there I was, making a pig snout trying to recall how my mouth was when I blew the candles.

Made a wish and can't wait to sink my teeth into the cake =P

OK, CUT....CUt....cut!!!! Eh??!!!

The cake can't be cut!!!!!! OK, use the other hand to PUSH!!!!!! EH??!!! Why still can't??!!!

That's it. (Stood up) PUSH!!! PUSH!!!!! End up doing a see-saw movement Hahaha!!!!

After struggling with the cake, brother was "Come come, let's take our 1st together picture". Hence that night, I had my 1st ice cream cake and my 1st picture with my brother who smiles weirdly.

With Mummy dearest!! Jon said my mother and I look alike. Do we??

My sister just finished bathing, my brother don't know why has that ducky look on his
face (thank god he don't come here =P), mother got blocked by my big-headed sister and me =)

**************************************************************
Since my camera is here and my desktop is working nicely, let me put up some Spritz's newest pic!!!
I was in the house because I can't find the keys so got to take picture with the grill door. Thanks to Jon, he's such a poser!!
I told him to look in and after calling him thousand and thousand times, he finally looked in with that annoyed "what??!!" look.

Chillax man!! Why so stress??
OK, enough face picture. Now see my BUTT!!! HAHAHAHA XD
Actually he heard my brother coming home. He can sense our car from few Km away =P
"Told you brother is back, see how good I am." Jeez, so proud of himself LOL
**************************************************

Well, someone replied my comment and I am in cloud 9!!!

I don't know why but I have been dreaming about someone and each time that someone is wearing the weirdest costume!! Hahaha!!! Gosh, this time it involves band and he has long straight silky hair. My dreams are running wild!!!! And for the first time I know how to stalk people (not extremely la)!!! LOL!!!

Good day to all!!!

PS: Can someone teach me discipline?? I just can't study!!!
