COVID 19 in 2020

How is everyone?
Still alive and breathing well?
I hope so...

This pandemic has affected many of us in different ways.
I know how it affected me....it made me an angry person.
The grieving process always starts with denial, anger, bargain, depressed and lastly acceptance.

I have skipped denial because I know it's real and happening but stuck in the anger stage...still.

Mid March when everything started, I was frustrated with my surrounding colleagues for being acopia (unable to cope). I was angry at their inability to do their job, what they have signed up for and having pre- PTSD.

After 1 month, I can still feel my anger seeping out as I type here......*switch zen music on*...

So my fellow 'front- liner' aka people who works in ITU were complaining about wearing the PPE, unable to see or breathe properly whilst they are doing lines, complaining about the lack of cleaners coming to clean the flat (they can't even clean the common room/ kitchen that's why hoping cleaners will do the job for them) and get this, demanding the director to come and let them know that it is ok to be scared and anxious at times like this. Get off your high horse, OMG!!! People are dying left right and center without love ones beside them while struggling to breathe and you guys are complaining about all these minute stuff?? So called heroes? Not so here....

The next wave of anger was when people who were traveling back to cities (main home) from work accommodation were told to stay put instead of driving >1hour back to cities as covid was more pronounced and it is considered as non- essential travel. This kicked up a huge fuss, especially from a small group of 'very-smart' people threatening to bring this to court/ quit etc as it was against their human rights. Come on, we have a pandemic here and your selfish needs of wanting to sleep in double bed in your own home is not essential!! Anyway, after the deanery had a discussion with government, they slacked the rules for them so these bunch of people can be happy, travel and spread the covid further.

On top of all these dramas, the education centre decided to throw in some toys to these bunch of people who are employed and earning salary (while many have became jobless during this pandemic, worried about feeding their family and paying off loans/ mortgages) to keep them occupied and happy. Like how when a baby throws a tantrum, you just feed it sweets or toys to get them entertained and happy again. This bunch of salary earning adults get to choose what 'toys' they want. Things that have been requested are: gym stuff, yoga mats, Frisbees, badminton, sports stuff, board games etc..... can you not fork out <5 a="" be="" can="" for="" frisbees="" go="" gym="" lifted="" lockdown="" nbsp="" not="" own="" p="" pay="" pounds="" proper="" the="" then="" to="" wait="" you="" your="">
It made me realised, people here feel 'entitled' or this is their way of coping...I don't know. A month down the road, I thought I will be cool, chill and have adapted the 'I don't care' attitude but the more I recall and write here, the more I am still seething.

So I have made a conclusion, being angry is the way for me to cope with all this shit.

Stay well, stay at home and stay happy =)

Loyalty

My last post was in February 2016 when I last went home. A friend (an old friend would be more appropriate) was surprised to find my blog is still alive and I could only think of the word 'loyal'.

Before I proceed with my random rants on loyalty, I would like to shout out to WH, my old friend who feels older today because....it's his birthday!!!!
Happy Happy Birthday WH =)
Stay happy and healthy!!

WH and I knew each other (I am sure) for more than 10 years. It started off with simple bantering and insults over a chat forum on band topics then subsequently we met for the first time for a Flora Fest in 2007. I could only describe that first meeting as awkward and funny. For those of you who doesn't really know me, I always still do call myself fat, ugly and dumb. So my friend here, was looking forward to meeting a fat female person....and... he met me. Our first face to face conversation at the train station was- ' I was looking for a fat person!' LOL!!!!

Anyway, we somehow kept in touch and till today whilst he is at the other end of the world from my current place, we still kinda keep in touch. The last time we met up was in Dec 2011 (oops, it's been almost 6years! Hey WH, if you are reading this, it's been too long, time to catch up!! =P) but we still occasionally talk via modern technology. I am pleased to know that he is happy and doing well in life. Kudos to you!!

True friendship as time passes by, is difficult to maintain or find. Friends/ pals/ bro or sis from another mother etc that we formed when we were in our childhood or teenage years are so precious as we are as pure as we can be at that time. We are so comfortable with our friends and we didn't need to put on any masks not that I am putting on any now because I am so stupid hence I am so easily readable at work! As we grow older, meet more people, expand our circle of friends/ cliques/ network, we form who we are today but when we meet our old childhood friends, most of us evolve back to our old childish happy self. That is important because that was who we are, the start of every relationship since.

There has been changes in life for the past 2 years, from exams to work to relationships. Talking about work, many people said I was mistreated, a victim to a certain boss. But to me, I didn't find any of those true. To give you an idea, I was a trainee and at my work place, we are attached to a boss for 6 months so last year, instead of 2 bosses, I had 3 bosses. One semi- retired boss who was part time for 3-4 months, then when he officially left, I was attached to a new boss who was new to everything for 2-3 months and the last 6 months to a boss who was THE BOSS. Talking about training, if I were to compare myself to other trainees of my level, I lack in so many ways because instead of being trained like others, my training was service provision, working extra shifts that are lacking cover, lack of 'cutting' time etc. And THE BOSS is a, well strict would be an understatement. You can kinda guess what type of boss that is.

Anyway, prior to working under THE BOSS (TB for short), I was warned that all female trainees under TB cried most days due to the stress from TB. My first day with TB, I was told by TB that EVERYTHING I DO WILL BE WRONG, ACCEPT THAT FACT. I accepted that fact easily because, well, I am stupid and I don't even trust myself LOL. With this mentality, we got on well (I didn't cry so far so all is well) but there are moments where TB can be cross in general (not towards me) but others see it as TB was bullying me. Staff members check on me after 'discussions' between TB and me LOL!!

Anyway, after a year, I got another 1 year extension and my loyalty was tested. Do I move on to another place or stick with this place with a promotion? I was in a dilemma and I could not make up my mind. I didn't want to burn my bridges here and at the same time I didn't want to lose out on a possible better work place. In the end, I chose comfort of knowing the workplace and fellow staff member, security and loyalty over moving to a new workplace. Do I have regrets? No because I am still happy despite working harder and longer hours all my fault to be honest because I love work too much. Today is my first break after working 12 days straight which includes being oncall 61 hours straight. Calculating the hours, I have worked 155 hours for the past 12 days, 1.6 times the hours allowed according to European Working Time Directive (average of 48 hours in a week).

But all is well, I am resting today and I have yet to crash. I shall stop as I can continue for hours and I have other stuff to sort out aka life. So till the next post, take care!

PS: I was at a clinic with a patient and after he left the clinic, he told one of the staff that I am hilarious and can be a stand up comedian. So if I ever become jobless, I know that I will have some audience as a stand up comedian =P

Angry, fuming, disappointed, helpless

I'm back again. New department is not as organised as my previous department. My rota (work schedule) consists of night shift on Monday, post night zero day on Tuesday, day shift on Wednesday, long day shift on Thursday, back to day shift on Friday followed by night shift on Saturday and Sunday again. Its not doing my sleep pattern any good and its making me binge eat.

Anyway, the title of my post is the reason I am here. I rarely talk about my family but this time, I just have to.

My granny had a fall towards the end of CNY. I have a relative (let's name it IT) who works in the medical field. I believe IT recently graduated and should be in the housemanship phase. So, IT felt that everything is fine because quote IT 'granny is standing with minimal support'. Unfortunately granny has been complaining of severe thigh pain and according to my dad, she could not even move her leg due to pain. For the sake of 'family harmony', he felt that bringing granny home will be the best option. Now at this point, granny is still in a lot of pain and Dr. IT has (I presume) 'examined' and give it the all clear. When my dad told me the situation, I strongly suggested an XR to help in determining the cause of the pain eg. Fracture.

My dad brought granny home (traveled 5-6 hours journey) and went to the hospital which showed a fracture on the XR. Sadly, a lay person was there and the only information I got was that there is a broken bone at hip joint. Now, for those of you who are interested, a broken bone at hip joint could represent a lot of things and the most important complication we are (I am) worried is something called avascular necrosis (bone dies due to lack of blood supply).

I am furious because of the attitude of IT who didn't give a shit care on the pain my granny was experiencing. IT even lied to my dad that my granny could walk or stand with little help when my granny was obviously in severe pain (pain is a good sign that something is not right) and was suffering. As a doctor, IT is duty bound to care, examine properly and give a good useful advice instead of ignoring the white elephant in the room. More over, we are talking about family!! Wouldn't you care even a bit?? This is so wrong!! Maybe you'll say that IT is still new as a doctor but isn't it obvious that something is not right when a 80 over year old lady (high chance osteoporosis has set in) had a fall, in severe pain and is not moving the leg. If IT was not sure, sending granny to see a proper doctor ain't that difficult right?

With this kind of attitude, lack of compassion or empathy and NEGLIGENCE, IT is causing more harm than good. IT is a very dangerous doctor and I worry for the patients that are under IT's care. Innocent lives will be sacrificed for the sake of the stupid attitude which is appauling, outrageous and unacceptable!

IT is the annoying brat 'special' child who scored top in class,  gets spoiled and gets all IT's way. I've never liked IT fully and something IT said years ago when I was all alone in the rural Wick with no other Asians around during CNY period was very insensitive and that made me stop talking to IT (only when we face each other). At first I thought I was being bias due to my dislike of IT, but this time, I think it's justifiable to feel this way.

I would love to confront IT, to hear what IT got to say before I pounce on IT but my dad asked me not to say anything, and again, for the sake of 'family harmony'. If I get to do my way, I will not be living in a lie, wearing masks even among people I call family!! I am so disappointed at how things are going. I am also fuming because I am so far away and I can't do much at all. I feel so helpless and that's fueling my anger!!

This situation made me realise a lot of 'doctors' back at home do not possess the quality to care. What they have in mind is money and fame. Why are these people wearing a Dr in front of their name when they even lack the basic human emotions to feel for others, to care, to love and to help. Why are my family members, relatives, friends and their family getting treated by people who call themselves doctor yet fail to even be a human. I blame society and the system. I blame the lack of education (I am not talking about degrees or masters). I blame myself for letting such thing to happen even among my relatives.

I am not saying I am greater or better than IT but I am just so angry at how things turn out. For now, the health and recovery of my granny comes first. The doctor that saw my granny suggested 2 options- surgery or non- operative treatment. My dad opt for the safer and lesser evil option. The doc said it'll take weeks to months before my granny will recover. He is even surprised that she could sit. With lack of physiotherapy, lack of family support and lack of proper early intervention, I doubt it'll take weeks. I'm still so furious! What if granny was sent to seek medical attention earlier? (she would have pain control in place) What if the fracture was treated earlier? (she would recover quicker) What if something worse went wrong (high chance DVT (blood clot) will form followed by PE followed by death). I might be harsh in saying these but seeing death most days, I thought i'm immune to it by now. Truthfully, I was (I stop feeling and forgot how precious life is and how it affects the people around the decease) but I realise it quick enough and now have a soft spot that were never there before.

To readers out there, please do not be in the medical profession if money and fame is your aim in life. Don't think that having the title Dr means you are respected, you'll have a stable job, you'll live happily ever after. Its not that simple, it's never that simple. Also, advice your children, your relatives, cousins, nephews/ nieces or friends that being a doctor ain't easy and it's a long painful journey especially if there is no passion. Please don't force them because of the ignorance most Asian parents have. You are risking the lives of others.

My last day in corporate world

I woke up this morning feeling so sad =(

Yesterday was my last day of work. After getting treated lunch on Tuesday and Wednesday, I got a small gift from the receptionist on Thurday. I got this
Then on Friday morning at 9am, Kak Dina presented this to me and it's from the whole department

I actually suspected it because on Thursday, she went around whispering with the staffs and one of the staff gave away. After a few exchange with Kak Dina and while Kak Dina was walking back to her own place, that staff suddenly said "my daughter said S-D is not so cold, some what like Genting" and hence I suspected that they'll give me some winter related stuff. More over during Tuesday's lunch, Kak Dina already asked me what I like, accessories or clothes etc LOL
I can't help smiling the whole day after that =)

The winter scarf is so cute and the things that the staffs wrote in the card are so nice. I've got that same huge lollipop from my DM ages ago and so happen Thursday was her birthday too!! Gosh, I miss them so much now.

On Thursday night, I actually prepared some small gifts for them and I slept at 2.30am after finishing everything!!! I was dead tired but it was so worth it!!
I prepared the cards
Then wrapped up the chocolatesand tadah~~
So during lunch, I put them on their respective tables while they were not around and after that, I got even more gifts which include
2 ducks from a staff which I rarely talk to a small purse from Lee Tenga wayang kulit thing from Indonesia and a box of nougat from my Assistant Manager
I've finished the nougat though =P
and a box I am so touched and felt so appreciated and a few staffs even keep asking me to prolong my contract and keep saying "janganlah pergi". One staff actually teared when I said my goodbye. Aawwhhh...
The staffs at 9th and 10th floor were so shocked that I was leaving so soon and they were so nice as they keep giving me hugs after shaking my hand =)

I am never good in saying goodbye and instead of feeling sad, I was actually really happy the whole day! When I returned my tag, the HR staff also commented "wah, so happy leaving us ah?" LOL even her head department which I only said hi a few times also came out from her room and said loudly "where is that leng lui who is leaving us? Don't want to shake my hand ah?" Gosh, I felt so awkward because she acted like so close to me when I don't even know her name.

Oh ya, the CEO actually called me into his room and talked to me. Asked me why am I leaving them so fast when I'm continuing my studies next April etc. His PA/ secretary/ senior manager also asked me into her room and told me to keep in touch and if I need anything, she has family at UK that she can ask them to help. So sweet right??

When I was waiting for the lift, the CEO came and waited for it too and we actually had our second conversation in the lift LOL.

OK, I actually felt really really sad this morning hence I went to my email and spread my miss-yous to them and after that, felt so much better. I was even hyper in ballet class which starts at 7am!! Hahaha

Well, I thought corporate world is all about politics, gossips and back-stabbing. This working experience really changed my mind. Maybe because I'm just a temp staff but hey, they love me!!! =)

Goodbyes

It's 7.20am and I'm in the office already and hence the chance to blog =P

Well, this is not news flash but for those who didn't know, this is my last week working in the corporate world. After this, I'll be a no-life student again.

So on Tuesday, I went to office early and on my way I bought a packet of nasi lemak biasa tambah kuah kari and it was so delicious!!!! I can't remember when was the last time I had a packet of steaming hot nasi lemak. Anyway, when I was finishing the mouth-watering breakfast, Kak Dina, the staff who sat behind me gave me a steaming hot red bean pau and I gobbled it up because the nasi lemak was so spicy that made me yearn for more.

Later in the afternoon, she and a few other staffs forced me out and treated me A&W as my farewell lunch!!! I was so touched because these ladies who are always on coco-collagen supplement are so nice to me.

Yesterday, another group of staff (Chinese this time) also did the same and since one of the staff is a vegetarian, I thought we'll have vegetarian food and hence joined them but we walked into a Japanese Restaurant instead!!! I only had RM10 on me and the meals there were RM18.80 and above!!!!

So I ordered the set lunch (which was the cheapest-RM18.80) and hoped that I can pay back them tomorrow but in the end, they said this lunch is on them. AAWwwhhh.....

Just moments ago, the receptionist (Kak Nor) just gave me a small bouquet of chocolates decorated like a flower with a teddy bear. The people here are so nice!!!! Double Aawwhh...

Tomorrow, I'm going to give them some chocolates (planned early this week) and with them showering me with so much love, makes my "some chocolate" looks so insignificant but hey, it's the sincerity that is important. Right?

Appreciated

I had a great day =)

I started off my day with an episode of House, did some puzzles in the car, going through the normal routine at office and suddenly my assistant manager appeared. She was supposed to be on leave for this whole week but she came back earlier.

While I was helping to wrap 30 boxes of presents for the reporters in 16th floor (there was a press conference about the change of ownership), the AM came and started pouring pine nuts, walnuts, butter almonds and plums from China on a piece of white paper (reminds me of sinseh) and tell me to enjoy it. It was so sudden and I am not used to her being so nice because she usually is very quiet and don't talk so much to me.

Anyway, had my lunch, an apple and finished the stuff she gave me while reading manga. Then I continued with my crossword puzzles while waiting for time to pass. At about 3ish, the AM came and silently passed me a box of nougats!! I looked at her and all she did was "shhh" LOL!!!

Walked to mom's office in 25 minutes time. Best record so far and continued my crossword puzzle to 7pm, felt like watching Moonlight Resonance so watched through my hand phone TV and I was so lucky because that was the conclusion episode!! Fell asleep at 8.30pm and finally mom finished her work at 10.30pm. While watching the TVB drama, had 2 pieces of chocolate chips cookie and a packet of meiji biscuits. Hence, that was my dinner.

Anyway, it has been a long time since I last felt so light on my feet =)

****************************

This office's staffs are like food distributor. Anyone with food, they'll go distributing it among us. Previously, someone bought some fritters and started walking to each table and go "try try, it's nice." Then there was fried pineapple from Indonesia, chocolate muffin, fried lotus seed from Vietnam, a lot of kuih raya etc. Every time, there is always food to share and it feels nice. Feel like home =)

****************************

The other time, a staff who I replaced was leaving the next day and the whole team had lunch together. They even invited me who was there for a week and I ate for FREE!!

There was extra Hari Raya chocolate biscuits (the one with almond in it) and one of the staff gave it to me for helping her sorting the insurance certs. Hehehe

***************************

16 more days to go and I'm free!!! I think I'm gonna miss this place. I have been here for the past 4 months mind you!! =)

New Friend

I'm kinda missing someone especially on weekdays from next week onwards.

The friends I have usually are from playground/ kindergarten/ school/ college/ university/ clubs/ ballet/ band. Come to think of it, all the people I know share some common interest as me in some ways.

2 weeks back I got to know another temporary staff from another department who was cool looking (especially the hair..drools), funny and (the most important) we clique very very well. That person don't have much to do so always call me and chat nonsense stuff while I am busy with my work. It's my weakness for entertaining these type of calls even though I am really busy.

Anyhow, that person's last day was Thursday and we send that person off with a bang. OK, not exactly a bang but we actually sent that fellow off. Friday's lunch was all about that person. We miss the trademark I-don't-give-a-damn laughter and that fellow has the nerves to actually sms and ask how's lunch and to state how free and easy that fellow is now!!

We aren't studying anything that is related. I don't think interest in band or ballet is something we share but somehow we just clique. We talked a lot and always exchanging sweets LOL!! By mid September, this fellow is flying off to London for Hertfordshire University.

Best of luck!! Missing you already =(

Self Initiative

Remember I complained about work being boring and all. Well, now it's so busy that I don't have time to think about it. Dang, I don't even have time to drink my water or even go to the toilet because all the documents were urgent and needed to be done by today. My bladder nearly burst!! Well, at least I'm done and now I can truly relax =)

Anyway, my point with self initiative is whatever you feel can be changed. It's all about whether you want to take the initiative to change it. Don't give me the crap that it can't be changed or anything that goes with that line. When I thought sign language class was bored, I took the first step to make it interesting by always volunteering myself to be the first to step out and sign to the class. Now since work is boring, I shall change it to make it interesting.

To you out there, go ahead and have courage to change things to suit your way. Good luck =)

Went back Uni on Thursday and met up with Jon and Yue Kin. Funny people but I had fun.

Going to Marche with Tham tomorrow and Chilies with Jon on Sunday. Whee..FOOD!!!

PS: I was so busy that I really did forgot to call uni to confirm my attendance for the convocation LOL!!

****************************************
Totally into this song for the past month but I hate the yellow colour sentence.

Picture perfect memories scattered all around the floor
Reachin' for the phone 'cause I can't fight it anymore
And I wonder if I ever cross your mind
For me it happens all the time

It's a quarter after one, I'm all alone and I need you now
Said I wouldn't call but I lost all control and I need you now
And I don't know how I can do without
I just need you now

Another shot of whiskey can't stop looking at the door
Wishing you'd come sweeping in the way you did before
And I wonder if I ever cross your mind
For me it happens all the time

It's a quarter after one, I'm a little drunk and I need you now
Said I wouldn't call but I lost all control and I need you now
And I don't know how I can do without
I just need you now

woah woaaah.
Guess I'd rather hurt than feel nothin' at all
It's a quarter after one I'm all alone and I need you now
And I said I wouldn't call but I'm a little drunk and I need you now
And I don't know how I can do without
I just need you now
I just need you now
Ooo, baby, I need you now

updates

Went and watched Inception again on Sunday and I didn't really enjoy it. Reason being
1. Atmosphere of the cinema was bad as there were kids shouting , standing up and counting those who were watching the movie
2. I was tired
3. It was my second time watching it and the plot was still fresh in my mind

Anyway, I've come to a decision of
never watch the same movie twice in a cinema within the same month

**************************

Graduation Day for my batch and other batches from other courses falls on 21.08.2010 and I don't feel like going but my dad told me "if I can't go for your graduation at University of XX, at least I can attend this" thus making me feel bad since I don't plan to go. Anyway, I got to reply to IMU before 6.08.2010 to confirm my attendance. ARGH!!

*************************

I think I'm depressed working here. Got my salary yesterday and it was only for the 1st 11 days. So demotivating to see the amount on the pay cheque. Anyway, I'm saying that I'm feeling a little down working here because weeks ago when I climb the stairs, I'm filled with energy but recently when I climb the stairs I feel so weak and so lazy and I just felt like sitting at the stairway and not go back into the office. I wonder if I can last till end of October.

I've come to realise that working actually sucks the energy out of me big time. Not to brag but I usually can sit in the library for 10 or more hours and not feel tired even with just barely 4 to 5 hours sleep daily. But now waking up is so difficult and by 10pm or 11pm, I'll feel so dead tired that I just want to close my eyes and doze away irregardless of where I am. I really hate working here.

*****************************

Yesterday when I was telling my mom how people in the 9th floor have been calling me the "D" word I hate the most (for now), she asked me if it's because of the staff that wanted to introduce her nephew to me (no by the way) and guess what did she say next.
"Oh he's a neorologist or neurosurgeon right? How old is he again? Oh, not too bad what. If ngam then go for it lar."

We were in the car and I was sitting behind her with O.O"' face.

Match make me 2

Before I blab about the match making annoyance, let me shout:

INCEPTION IS ONE HELL OF A MOVIE!!!! FANTASTIC!!!

Jon and I went and watch on Tuesday and that day was not a good day because work was starting to stress me up since the staff who has been guiding me is leaving on that day!!
Anyway, the movie was so good that I was gasping a lot of time and really felt the suspense!! It has been a long time since I have such feelings. Wow, I really want to watch the second time. But surprisingly, I could follow the movie closely and I understand what was happening because if you don't concentrate (like Jon), you'll get lost in the middle of the movie because they travel in dreams and within dreams. So if you watch, don't zone out!!
****************************

Well, after trying to avoid that staff's eye for the past few days, she finally came up and came to my cubicle. She asked more questions about me such as
-Where do I stay
-How many siblings do I have
-Where am I going next year (when she heard that I'm going to UK, she was so happy and keep saying "ngam ngam" =.="')
-What are my parent's occupation etc

Grrr!!!

Anyway, she asked me if I've added him in Facebook so I told her the truth, well sort of the truth.
"Oh sorry, something is wrong with my Streamyx so I can't online."
Then she asked me if the guy added me, then will I know and what happens if I don't accept him soon (I think she's worried that the friend request will disappear or something...which I hope it can) then she said don't know if her sister told his son already or not or something about told him already but something (couldn't bother listening because I am busy and my whole table is full with files and documents to sort and batch).

Lesson learnt.

You got to be cruel and mean to cut the story short if you are not interested in the match making procession.

net-at-work

So far, the lady has not come up and find me (I hope never!!) and even when I went down to deliver document, she didn't say anything. I also err, avoided her eyes =P

I just got to know that only an executive position and above has internet connection so most of the other staffs do not have the luxury to surf net. Lucky me but I have not surf the net when it's working hours. It's 12.50pm and it's lunch time so here I am.

Later going to watch Inception. This is the only thing I am looking forward for today. Whee~~~

And today is the last day for that staff. Tomorrow onwards, I'm on my own and I hate that feeling. Oh ya, did I tell you guys I hate this job?? It's so boring!!! Today is only Tuesday and I am looking forward to weekends already. Haih!!

Double haih because Onemanga is closing down =,(

Match make me??!!

3 stuff to blog about:

1.

It was about 10ish when this lady staff from 10th floor came up and find me. I was at the filing area and was feeling nauseous because of my low blood pressure and repeatedly standing and squatting made it worse. So anyway, I was searching for this file when suddenly that lady appeared and asked me how old am I. So I replied her and the next thing I know she's telling me about this nephew of his who's still single and the mother (her sister) is worried. Bla bla bla....and she wanted me to get to know the nephew.

Oh ya, according to that lady, her nephew is 30 something years old very tall doctor who's working at England and very shy around girls and hence no girlfriend. His 2 younger sisters are doctors too and are at England (1 of them is at Scotland) and they're all from IMU. After coming up to my floor a couple of times to ask me more questions about myself, she decided to ask me to email that poor guy. I, who was still feeling nausea and was frantically smiling and shaking my head (which made me feel like puking on her) could not stop her from continuing her mission. So I end up asking her to ask him to add me in FB and I gave her my name to end the ordeal of shaking my head.

Few minutes later, she came up AGAIN and this time, I tried to push her mission onto another female worker who's older than me by a few years. Instead she told me she prefers me even though she didn't even look at the girl I recommended!! Anyway, she came up and gave me that guy's name instead and asked me to add him.

So here I am feeling stupid and dumb for not lying that I'm attached, just came back from googling his name and guess what, he's a gold medalist from M1/00!!! Gold medalist is an award for the best student of the batch. Wow, brilliant guy but not around girls I guess.

Wait, let me tell you how I felt when I was at the office before googling the name. I didn't really gave much thought about this guy who is still single at the age of 30 and is a doctor, but maybe it's because
1. He is very dedicated to his job and don't have time for relationship?
2. He haven't told the mother that he's dating someone?
3. He don't plan to get or want a relationship?
4. He's a psychopath?
5. He's a huge geeky not attractive doctor?

But after seeing him as a gold medalist, what I have in mind now is no 1 and 5 =P

Anyone interested?? Just tell me and I'll tell that lady staff. Just get me out of this mess. Grr...

2.

Had farewell lunch with the seniors and big boss of my department for the staff who's last day is Tuesday (today). They talked, I pretended to smile and gave up half way because I can't hear them. Than god a junior sms me to ask me about his electives which gave me something to occupy my time.

8 of us went and 7 of us are Malay so you do the Math and tell me who's the awkward one. Anyway, didn't dare to eat much because I don't feel well. So when we went back to the office, I continued with my work at the filing section and overheard the seniors discussing about how much each of us need to pay (our boss paid 1st) so I went to my seat and took out my purse, ready to fork out whatever crazy amount and to my surprise they say I don't need to pay. Whee~~Good news for me because I am broke.

3.

Sign Language Class was so fun today. We learned how to sign greetings, time and occupation. Lastly, we learned how to sign fruits. We had 10 more minutes to go so we played a game. Do you guys know how to play "bomb"? It's a game where each group name themselves (usually a country) and the starting group will go "bomb (own group name), bomb (own group name), bomb (own group name) to (another group's name)" while pointing to that group and that group repeats. It's fun because it gets faster and definitely they'll be mistake. Either the whole group don't start together and shout the same other group's name or they point at the wrong direction.

Anyway, we played the same game where we name ourselves a fruit (by signing) and we played the same game and rules. Loser stands in the middle of the circle to catch another loser (the person who did a mistake of signing wrongly). My fruit name was strawberry and the sign for it is holding your nose (strawberry's shape is similar to our nose's shape) while the others had their own fruit sign. So everyone will sign their own fruit sign then another fruit which indicates one of us. Since mine was the easiest, everybody keep signing strawberry and it was so funny when everything went faster. They either forgot to sign their own fruit of the sign went weird!!

What a day right??

Later watch Inception, yeah!!

Office Life

Yesterday, guess what time did I leave office? 7pm!! And it's because I have sign language class at 7.30pm. I'm sure if I didn't have the class, I'll be working til 8ish. I'm supposed to be off by 5.30pm. Anyway, I was asked to come to the office at 8am (usually start work at 8.30am) so there I was and continued my work from yesterday.

Why so busy? Because there's a budget meeting and all the documents, name cards and files are done LAST MINUTE. Tsk tsk tsk. And I got to help them. Double Tsk tsk tsk. By 8.45am, I followed the staff to 9th floor and my boss aka the AGM was rearranging the name cards on the table. The other proper meeting room was occupied so they were stuck in this small meeting room. They were 48 of them and some are gigantic mind you so you can imagine how cramped the room was.

I was asked to collect the laptops from 10th floor and the next thing I know, the staff was missing and the AGM asked me to stay back in the small meeting room. So I stood at a side, feeling awkward until she asked me to sit so I sat beside this Miri's head of department (all the heads flew from their respective agency) and we talked. He has 2 nieces who studied in IMU and currently in Seremban and housemanship.

After about 5 minutes, the AGM asked me to take their attendance so I sweetly and politely approached them one by one and asked them to sign. Some of them were nice and some were not the smiling type. Anyway, there was this head of agency from Tawau who reminded me of Mr. Ronnie!! Tall and a little balding and very friendly. Hehehe, I wonder how's Mr.Ronnie.

I was going around when suddenly a huge bunch of them just walked right in and I lost track of those who has signed the attendance list. Anyway, the worse part was where the CEO came in and my AGM decided to start the meeting by inviting the CEO to speak while I was stuck at the back!! I panic because I know that I am not allowed to be in this type of huge big bosses meeting so I quickly excused myself and ran up to my office at 12th floor.

Later, I was asked to photocopy A LOT of documents and that staff who left me earlier asked me to send it to the secretary in the meeting room. He asked me to knock and pass it to the secretary but I didn't feel right interrupting the meeting. I was standing outside the meeting room eavesdropping on their conversation and they were kinda in a debate/ fierce conversation. If I were to barge in like what that staff asked me to do, I think I'll be in huge trouble. So after approaching the door preparing to knock and walk a few steps back to reconsider a few times, my action caught the attention of one staff who sat near the meeting room door. I end up leaving the documents on her desks and left. Coward? Chicken? I think it's manners =P

I am officially dead after next week because the staff who's training me now is leaving!! I'll be taking over her job and she's under 3 brokers!! The amount of work will not kill me, its the part where I need to process the documents which is the killer. I don't know anything about insurance and I don't even know what a premium is!! Anyway, I'm starting to learn and understand this past week and I've wrote down everything she told me but different companies have different signing slips and endorsement format. ARGH!! So irritating!!

The pantry suck. It's dark, dirty looking and as small as a First World Hotel toilet.
The toilet does not provide tissue but each staff is given a roll every month. What the hell right?

I'm so glad I am not working permanently in the corporate world =)

Office Phobia + Nice Girls Don't

I finally have to do the real thing and they are both what I fear most working here.

1. I have to prepare documents and sign under MY NAME.
2. I have a telephone on my desk

Fear no.1
For those who know me, you know I hate making mistakes. And now with my name on the black and white paper, anything that goes wrong will be blamed on ME because I made the document. Gosh, this is something like having my 1st patient assigned to me in the future. Anything goes wrong, my name will be floating around. I am so scared that I'll screw up big time!!!

Fear no.2
For the past 2 weeks, I had a lot of space on my desk and the most important thing- peace and quiet. Now, with the appearance of the telephone (red by the way), it distracts me and exposes me to angry staffs to call me and scold me?! And, the phone will ring and I am forced to receive it!! My working experience as a receptionist for 1 year doesn't help much in this case.

Gosh, I was so terrified when I saw the telephone installer approached me with the ugly red telephone and asking me to leave my desk for a while. ARGH!!!!! Now the phone is starring at me and somewhat mocking me for feeling this way. let me hide the phone from my plain view first.

Actually there's fear no.3 but I kinda overcome it so no point ranting it here.
And oh ya, my boss hates me.

Curious about the "Nice Girls Don't" title? It's actually a book written by Molly Harper and it is funny!! I like the way she writes and the storyline is really funny and entertaining. So far she has 4 books-Nice Girls Don't Have Fangs, Nice Girls Don't Live Forever, Nice Girls Don't Date Dead Men and And One Last Thing.

The first author I fell in love was J.K Rowling with her Harry Potter series. Next was Jodi Picoult followed by Dorothy Kroomson and now, I shall follow Molly Harper's books too. I wonder if it's worth buying and keeping the books. I have the complete set of Harry Potter, 7 or 8 of Jodi's books, none of Dorothy's and Molly's because I borrowed their books from the library. I borrowed books from friends too and I've read quite a few of Cecilla Ahern's and Sophie Kinsella's books. My definition of "Molly's books are entertaining and funny" is somewhat like Sophie's book. Well, all author's name stated here write nice good books =)

Question is, should I buy the books to keep??

PS: Blogging from office so shoot me =P

Sick of waiting

My day started off with boredom. Nothing much to do in office so I practically sit and stare at the desktop's screen saver. Sometimes, I get the chance to send documents to different departments at different floor and that's the time I really walk slowly. Anyway, another staff started calling me Jenie. I don't know how did they come up with that name but I have yet to correct them. Should I?

Mum messaged and asked me to hang out in KLCC because she's having dinner til 9ish so I walked to KLCC and watched

This movie is ok, not too bad and not fantastic. Why? Because 2 different mid 30s Caucasian men were sitting at my both sides and they kinda distracted me from having my movie-cinema-me moment!! They are both lookable and tall and well build and lookable. ANYWAY, they distracted me by their occasional laughter and taking-a-sip-from-my-drink time. The left guy put his drink on his right side while the right guy put his drink on his left side and KLCC's seat is weird as in the drink holder is quite low and between seats unlike normal mid valley's GSC where the holder is sticking out at the end of the arm rest. So when they want to take a sip, they got to look down or sit up and move forward to find their cup. Their frequent movements at different times is very distracting.

Another distracting point is Tom Cruise himself. He is so hunky and so lookable (ignore acting skills)!!!! I don't like how Cameron acts by the way.

Movie finished at 9pm and mother told me she'll finish by 10pm so I went to Kinokuniya and read the book that I planned to buy from MPH the other day (The Swan Thieves). The song that they broadcast was an excellent choice!! All the violin and orchestra pieces were splendid and so relaxing. Anyway, I'm glad that I haven't buy the book because after reading 30 pages, the story was not as good as I expected. BUT I am very much into another book-House Rules
House Rules. The synopsis- (high light to read)HOUSE RULES is about Jacob Hunt, a teenage boy with Asperger’s Syndrome. He’s hopeless at reading social cues or expressing himself well to others, and like many kids with AS, Jacob has a special focus on one subject – in his case, forensic analysis. He’s always showing up at crime scenes, thanks to the police scanner he keeps in his room, and telling the cops what they need to do…and he’s usually right. But then one day his tutor is found dead, and the police come to question him. All of the hallmark behaviors of Asperger’s – not looking someone in the eye, stimulatory tics and twitches, inappropriate affect – can look a heck of a lot like guilt to law enforcement personnel -- and suddenly, Jacob finds himself accused of murder. HOUSE RULES looks at what it means to be different in our society, how autism affects a family, and how our legal system works well for people who communicate a certain way – but lousy for those who don’t.

Why sick of waiting? The last longest time I've waited for my mom to come fetch me was 8 hours in front of the school where I worked as a temporary teacher and it was a Friday, far from my house, raining heavily the whole afternoon till night and all school activities were canceled. Last night, I waited for my mom at the street outside MPO for 1.5 hours (from 10pm) and it was SCARY because my phone died so I don't know if my mom forgot me and the taxis keep honing to attract passengers!!! Gosh, I just hate waiting for her.

Today's sign language class was fun because we learned how to describe object and colours with our hands =)

I just realised that my office is so strategic!! I can go KLCC, Times Square, Pavilion, Bukit Bintang, Sungei Wang, Monorail and LRT by just walking!! Whee~~

I have been watching 1 episode of Supernatural every night and I have yet to get scared by that show. The only episode that managed to surprise me was the Episode 10-Asylum where it all happened in the burned down abandoned sanitarium.

my 1st sign language class

Before I start my post concerning the title, let me tell you about my job today.

Reached office early like usual and begged for work so I got to do filing again. I did filing last Friday and it was easy and fun. But today it was getting on my nerves because the files are not arranged systematically, they were all over and the same company having few files with different years everywhere!! It was so frustrating because I swear I saw company XYZ seconds ago but I can't find it when I need it. There were 7 huge tall cupboard for the files mind you. Anyway, I end up with bad headache and was so glad when it was 5.30pm.

The staff that gave me most of the work keeps telling me I worked too fast. I guess she's having problem giving me work because I can't do much and the stuff that I can do are finishing LOL. Maybe I can volunteer to sort their sucky filing cupboards. That will definitely fill up my time.

I have many paper cuts on my hands =(

******************************************

So, my 1st sign language class was...quiet. We'll be having 2 instructors. One normal lady and another deaf lady. Today's class was conducted by the deaf lady and it was err, honestly, not very exciting. I was actually having palpitations while waiting for the class to start because I thought it'll be fun. I can actually see my shirt on my left chest beating along my heart beat!! So, it did not occur as what I've expected.

Class started off with introduction by the normal lady telling us about all the activities. OH YA!! We have ASSIGNMENTS and TESTS!!!! Gosh!! Attending deaf related activities consist of 40%!! I don't mind at all but the thought of written assignments (50%) is just so sad. Anyway, after the normal lady left, we were told (signed) to not talk, not to sign and not to write in the next 4 classes. We're allowed to start signing after the 4th lesson. AND this level only includes signing alphabets and numbers which I already know since Al lend me her sign language book last year.

The next 45 minutes includes us drawing and signing to explain about ourselves. So I drew this. Don't laugh, I didn't use a mouse to draw so it was not this ugly.
There were 7 of us so it took up quite a lot of time especially this aunty who is about 40 / 50 years old which have this huge family tree. Next, we learn to sign 1D, 2 D and 3D shapes.

I guess I can only look forward to attend those deaf related activities and learn their culture. Let's hope I'll be able to pass this class to proceed to the next level and be able to sign smoothly before I start my next semester.

PS: I don't know why people always assume that I'm a banana (don't know how to speak and write in Chinese) Jeez...

boss hates me I think lol

On my 1st day, the staff that introduced me to the surrounding told me I can surf the internet but not into sites like facebook so on my 3rd day of work, I was so bored so I practically was reading all sorts of news from Yahoo!! I even got to know about Megan Fox's news before it was announced in radio LOL!!!

Anyway, at 2ish pm, another staff (lower ranking) told me I cannot surf internet whenever I like and my boss (an AGM lady) have been looking at me quite a few times when she pass by my place. Oh ya, I sit at a very strategic place. All AGM, CEO and high ranking people need to pass by my cubicle to get to their office BUT the computer faces inwards so I won't really notice them (but they can see what I am doing) LOL.

So after that only did I realise why that AGM suddenly on that day keep asking me to do stuff for her (she was absent on my 1st day) like photocopy this, send the document to XX floor. Hehehe, cool right?? Reading blogs right in front of her nose!! HAHA (sorry, my bad but I really have nothing to do!!)

The staff that was kind enough to tell me gave me this 2009 file to check so I end up checking it til 5.25pm when that AGM called me to photocopy another document then send it to the 9th floor. By the time I came back it was 5.40pm (OT! OT!) and I got to rush for 7pm ballet!!! Well, I guess I deserve it =P

On my 4th day, I was a good girl. I did not surf internet and I checked the files that was given to me on Tuesday (2010's file) and Wednesday (2009's file) 4 to 5 times!!! Just to fill up my 8 hours!!! So bored!! I yawned gazillion times but never fell asleep even though I really felt like it. Now, this is what I call gaji buta!! I don't like it at all!! And feeling useless now is as bad as feeling aimless before I started working.

I'll beg for work to do today. I.D.O.N.T.C.A.R.E!!

2nd day at work

Things are getting busy. Oh by the way, I've finished the host and it's nice. I think I'm changing into a cry baby if I don't control myself. Like during Toystory 3, I didn't really cry my heart out (I'll do it if I'm alone) and hence when I read this book, I have the feeling to do so BUT of course I didn't!!

Anyway, back to work life. How is it??

Oh, I haven't tell you. I'm working in the CEO's office so I MUST wear formal (cannot be lazy like in IMU jeez) and yesterday the CEO came and many staffs had meeting with him to the point he said loudly (I don't know if it's him or other people) "Why keep having meeting, you guys don't need to work ah?!"

So, the 1st task for yesterday was to photostate this whole stack of paper and I got a deep wound from the staple because the paper was very unorganized. Next, the staff who sat behind me came and teach me who to operate their system and it was easy to remember at 1st but I wrote down just in case I forget which is something that WILL happen.

Later, another staff came and taught me more and she didn't really teach. She just showed and left and I couldn't follow so she showed me again. I still could not remember so I explored by myself yet could not do anything.

After lunch, the 1st staff came and I asked for her help. Thank god she was nice enough to teach. Then she told me, I will be leaving next month so you better learn up quick. OMG!!! Oh ya, this staff is 1 year older than me and she worked here 2 years already.

In the midst of using the system, I went to send some documents to other departments at other floor too and at 10 floor, some ladies interrogated me. They finally found out I'm a medical student and the expected sentence came -- When we come and see you, don't charge us that expensive ya!! JEEZ~~~

OK, it's 6.30am and I got to go take bath already. I sent a FB message to a doctor I know when I was in sem 1 completing my COP and he saw my picture. Guess what he added in his message

.....A word of advice.Ditch the specs. You look good without it.

HAHAHAHAHHA!!!!

1st day in corporate world

So today, I finally had a taste of working in the corporate world.

1st day's feeling-- BORING!!!!

I actually almost finish reading The Host by Stephenie Meyer!!

The people there gave me a few tasks of passing some document to other departments at other floor and that's it. The toughest thing for today was remembering names hehe.

Anyway, if this goes on, I might as well just bring papa patho there and read!! LOL!!!

But I have the feeling that this freedom might not last long.

Wish me luck for tomorrow =)

Working

Panic now. I forgot how to write a resume and my interview is tomorrow and they need it. Dang!!

Oh ya, I'm going for a job interview tomorrow at KL and I have no idea which department they will put me at and I just know that it's a Insurance company. Smart right?

My friend is working there as a part timer for the 2nd time (she's having her 3 months break) and she heard that the company needs part timer. My initial plan was to work at my mom's company as something which I forgot but my mom advised me not to work there because of the bad politics. So I end up asking my friend if there's vacancy at the place she's working at. That was on Tuesday (her off day) so she informed the HR department on Wednesday. Today I just received a call from her to come for interview tomorrow and start work on Monday.

Wow, too fast!! I planned to rest for another week but since it's an Okay pay I'll bear with it =P
I haven't start watching Dr.House or Supernatural and I have another 10 more movies to watch. I guess I need to reschedule everything.

I haven't enquire about the sign language classes too!! Gah!!

Chill. 1st step. Google samples of resume, then create one and sort out my school certs. Clothes?? HELLO?? Am I the type of girl who decides what to wear the night before?? NO~~ Or maybe I should? Gosh, which bimbo landed on my head and invaded my brain? Go Away!!

So for now, Mr.Google help me please.

Update you guys tomorrow about the interview =)
