My first laptop- Thinkpad T410i

Well as most of you know, I am as noob as I can be when it comes to electronic stuff such as laptop and I have been on a hunt for one that suits me since last June. What was important to me when it comes to laptop are

1. International warranty which includes UK
2. at least an intel core i5
3. 4GB RAM
4. 500 GB Hard drive
5. Below RM3000

So I was deciding on a HP Pavilion but when I went to Low Yat to get it, the dealer recommended the Thinkpad T410i-2518 instead. Ya, it's a Lenovo brand (China brand) but it's an IBM product. When I heard that it's an IBM product, I wanted to hear more because IBM is a brand that can be trusted (in my opinion) and it's a pioneer when it comes to laptop (Toshiba comes next).
I was more convinced when he told me that the military uses it and it's sturdy and he even proved it to me by dropping the laptop on the table. Then he explained to me that this laptop is shock tolerance and it has anti-glare because it has LED-backlit and is spill resistance (not like I'll pour water onto the keyboard =P) and has 3 years on-site warranty (Includes UK warranty), have a noob friendly reformat function (don't need to find people to reformat for me at UK), great wifi reception (I used it at night for a while and my brother came into my room and asked me to stop using the wifi because the speed for downloading his games at desktop went VERY slow lol) and the speakers are beside the keyboard so it's loud and nice enough to watch movies without headphones.

It was way higher than my budget (extra RM1300 after discount) but the specs was good and has a lot of cool techno-pro features like ThinkVantage System. My mother who was with me encouraged this purchase so I handed my hard earn RM3000 as deposit while they prep my laptop for me. The dealer also gave me a laptop security cable lock, keyboard cover, laptop cooler, lenovo bag and a choice of wireless or optical mouse. I also bought a Trustport Antivirus which cost me RM80 (original price RM100).

Overall, I'm happy with this purchase BUT I HATE THE KEYBOARD COLOUR!!!! Look...
With blue, black and red, what a horrible colour mixture (especially the Enter key!!) but the keyboard cover kinda reduce the ugliness so it's better now.

Well, for more info about this laptop, I'll list down some specs and stuff.

Out for 2 days

Saturday

Went for IELTS exam in the morning and finished by 12.15pm thanks to the people in charge of opening the door to the exam hall and the IDP people. Went to KLCC Chilis and had a nice meal of nachos, triple play and a Quesadilla Explosion which we didn't really fancy. sadly my favourite crispy chicken salad is not in the menu anymore =(

Came home, bath and went for a wedding dinner where we were shifted from one table to another then another because they arranged 2 seats instead of 3 seats for my family so 3 of us ended up having meals with the cousins and sister of the bridegroom. But so happen, the cousins were my primary school schoolmate and surprisingly they remembered me but we didn't talk much because I was tired. My mother was talking to them most of the time, asking the usual stuff of what are you doing now etc. Oh and they were nice and polite and keep serving us because according to them we are the guest LOL.

By 10.30pm before the wedding dinner ended (but after we finished our portion of the dessert), we left because we bought movie tickets for

Overall the movie was OK. I was kinda tired so I was just taking in what was happening without actually giving much thought but at the 1st few minutes, there is a scene which was kinda scary and after getting the first wave of shock, I counted to 10 then grab my sister's shoulder and she got the 2nd wave of shock HAHAHAHAHA....by the time we got home, it was already 12.30am.

Sunday

Woke up and went to uni and met up with June, Matthew, Ickes, Kyan and Yen Haw. Went to Sri Petaling for breakfast at a dim sum shop and Reza joined us. These people, don't know what is punctual tsk tsk tsk. Next, Kyan brought us to a yogurt shop and we shared 2 bowls of frozen yogurt. By 12.30pm, we dispersed so I went to the library and talked to another friend for a while and went back by train.

While walking out from the train station, Alicia called and the next thing I know we were at Mid Valley. We sat at Big Apple and had tea and talked from 3ish pm to 8pm!!!! OK, most of the time she talked I listened but when her bf joined us, I teased her bf LOL

Anyway, dead tired now and reading all the emails from the year 5 seniors is tiring because I'm using my dad's netbook and the screen is so small!!!! Can't wait to get MY laptop!!! =)

Fine, that's all for now...

FREAKING ANGRY

Stupid IMU!!! Stupid stupid stupid!!!

I just got an email from Aberdeen telling me that we don't need to retake IELTS. Great...I freaking paid RM550 for nothing!!! Wasted my time and effort preparing for the exam and made myself stressed out for nothing. NOTHING!!!!

Seriously, so pissed off!! With that RM550 I could have bought more winter clothing or spend it on some other stuff like paying my ballet fees or pay for attachment at HUKM. Blardy hell!!!

IMU, you really made my day, thank you very much. I sure am gonna go find that Imelda and give her a piece of my mind because she was the one that emailed us informing us that we need to retake IELTS and I even went and see her to confirm it!! Should have asked Aberdeen straight away!!!!

I planned to go to IMU to borrow the IELTS books from the library to prepare for this coming Saturday's listening, writing and reading and now, I don't really see the point of wasting that kind of effort and time. But then again, I've paid for the exam and exam is still exam, got to do my best. BUT I am just so angry!!!!

Grrr.....ARGH!!!!

04.01.2011

Well, it's raining and my internet connection is lagging. Great.

Anyway, yesterday was an eventful day.

Started off with throbbing headache when I woke up.

Went for IELTS's Speaking Test and was nearly late for it because they told me the change of date but not the change of TIME!! Luckily I left home early and when they called at 11.30am, I was 10 minutes away from IDP. My exam was originally at 12.55pm on 6.1.2011 and they called a week ago to inform me that it's been changed to 4.1.2011 but they forgot to inform me that it's at 12.15pm!! Grrr....

I was so nervous and tensed and was shocked when I saw who my examiner was-- the same lady who interviewed me before I was accepted into IMU. My Sympathetic Nervous System kicked in hard and I screwed up the test. I'm sure that lady (an English lecturer in IMU) must have thought "such a disgrace to have this student in IMU" tsk tsk tsk.

Went home by train and got shouted by a frustrated blind man because no one helped him earlier. Oh, I haven't blog about it? Well, I was reading JA's Path of Glory while waiting for the train when I saw a guy pulled this blind man away from the end of the floor at KL Sentral railway station. Another step, that blind man would have fall onto the railway tracks and it's quite high from the floor. So I ran up to him and asked him where he wanted to go and he shouted at me "SERDANG!!!" twice and grumbled. Surprisingly, I felt no emotions. =.=

So I lead him away from the wrong platform and brought him to the other side. While waiting for the lift, I talked to him and found out that he didn't want people to help because he didn't want to be a burden and rely on others in case there's no one there to help him. In another word, he wants to be independent. I guess he got angry because he was pulled by someone earlier and didn't realise that he nearly fell onto the tracks. Anyway, I ran up 2 flights of stairs and nearly missed my train. Phew....Next time people, help those who are in need!!

Reached home and checked FB and found out that my Further Maths lecturer created an A48 group for us and we're all now chatting there =)

Went to Rakuzen for dinner. While looking at the menu in the room with 2 tables, the customers beside our table stood up and left after getting their change and suddenly I saw a man's hand touching my table and I looked up, he held his hand out waiting to shake mine. So I shook and look at my mom and then my mom smiled and said "Oh. Dr.Tan, the Kepong MP". The next thing I know, I muttered softly in front of him "Oh the dermatologist" and he smiled then asked where are we from, then left. Moments later only did I realise that I could have asked him if I can go for attachment with him!!! Jeez...

HK & Macau Trip

Well, I know you expect me to write about my trip but so sorry, no mood. I just screwed up my IELTS speaking test thanks to my Sympathetic NS that kicked in HARD =(

Anyway, I'm going to upload some pictures of the things that I bought at HK =)
Snacks for us to munch in the hotel room (never actually opened any besides the chips because we were on food hunt so when we go back to the hotel room, we were all stuffed)
Mufflers and room socks. Bought it at MUJI, a Japanese shop
Bought the winter clothes at Giordano
Everything here cost HKD 1170. Cheap ok!!
I like the white one but I'm afraid that it'll get dirty soon =(
I wanted the dark blue winter jacket but Noooo, my mom said this purplish pink is nicer (ya, more girlish ish!!) and (don't laugh) it's a kids version but L size =P
The moo moo bed sheet comes with the purplish pink jacket and that 2 are G warmers (a nicer name for long john) =P

All right, I'll write a little about it. More pictures at Facebook.

Overall, it was a fun trip because of this aunty (my mom's friend) who's a natural comedian. We can just sit and laugh for HOURS!!!! With her facial expressions and her jokes, anyone feeling down and depressed can just ring her =)

We were at Macau ferry station and we were queuing up to get into line for the immigration entry and it was so crowded, something like in KTM train at 7.30am or 5.45pm. The Chinese there just pushed like nobody's business!! So rude and uncivilized!! A baby in the tram was nearly knocked down!!

Anyway, while waiting in line, we saw a lot of mainland Chinese squatting and face resting on their hands so she cracked one of her jokes.
"Why Chinese has mata sepet (small straight eyes)?
Because they always squat like that and their eyes kept getting pulled away and eventually all has mata sepet" =P
Maybe this doesn't sound funny to you but given the circumstances where you're angry and frustrated to be in such a long line and the people keep pushing you, you'll crack too right?? Well, we did =)

All in all, I really enjoyed myself =)
The lady 2nd from the left is the funny comedian. It's such a pity that she didn't make stand-up comedian as her occupation.
